Sacred Love – Where are You Coming From? Are You Turning Up in Love?

By Christopher Walker Have you recently stopped the rush and considered this question? Are you coming from loneliness, and therefore seeking companionship? Are you coming from anger, and therefore determined to make it in the world? Are you coming from smallness, feeling rejected, and therefore always trying to prove yourself? As a leader, and a lover, it is wise to know where you are coming from in relationships with people. As you know already from your reading, you cant manage relationship if you cant manage yourself. You cant know someone else if you dont know yourself. Otherwise, you will just be projecting onto people, and wont know anything about your reality or your truth or love. It doesnt matter whether it is your relationships, your friendships, your finances or your work; you come from the same place in all of them. That is a vital awareness. Some people come from kindness, some from authority, some from mothering, and some from fathering. Where we come from in our relationships with people seems to fluctuate, but this is not true. Sometimes the person we are interacting with accentuates where we are coming from. Alone, we can be an angel. Even traveling from one place to another, being very busy, we hardly have time to stop and experience the affect of our own thinking and feeling. We love and leave and run to the next because we are hurt or afraid. But when we become attached to someone, it is different For example, when we are in a relationship with someone who we really want to like us, even at work or in a love relationship, we can be very deceptive because we are trying not to offend that person. So we put on an act in order to get this person to do something. We cant trust just being our real self; we bundle up our secrets, hide ourselves, even from our children, so these relationships accentuated our shame – and this is healthy, because how else will we know our shame? Its the same when we do things we are not proud of, and then keep it a secret from our children, because we teach them to have shame too. They know there is something hidden in the closet. So they copy, and learn to be personally corrupt too. When we live two lives, we are coming from shame the whole time, but until we met someone we really want to be with, and became attached to that person in some sort of human dynamic, were not aware of our shame. Nasty people, people who are moody and attacking, are coming from a place of feeling small, irrelevant and so they fear being made redundant. Feeling small is behind so much attention seeking. Feeling small. Kind people, those who might be tough on the surface, but generous at heart, are coming from feeling rejected, they want acceptance. This is a wonderful twist of fate – a disaster in one experience can produce a giving individual in the world. Once you know where you are coming from, then you can simply know where others are coming from. And when you know where a person is coming from, their reactions to you, and the stresses of their life, can be totally understood. Remember, peoples behavior is totally predictable, and when you can understand the way people act and react, it is easier to work with them, and certainly easier to live with them. There is order in the chaos. The universe is predictable, nature is predictable, your life is predictable and your relationships are predictable. It is a very beautiful awareness to see how everything in the universe operates according to very simple laws. Our ego tries to defy those laws, this is called emotion, but we cant defy a universal law. Universal law even affects the cells in our body, and the color of our hair, and the dynamics in our relationships. It is a chemical thing, a construction of energies. So, all the suffering we experience comes from the ego, defying nature. This is called pain. To understand something is to see beauty in it. The materialist will look at the world and see acceptable and unacceptable. They will divide life into these two groups, attracted to one, and avoiding (or trying to change) the other. That is the materialist life, more acceptable, less unacceptable. Materially, this is a powerful way to think because it is the mindset that causes us to accumulates things. So if you want a lot of wealth, you can use this mindset to make it happen. The keys are greed, self- importance, fear of failure, ambition and drive. Sadly there is one thing lacking in that materialist life, and that is true happiness. Happiness comes from the spiritual perspective, which is the opposite of the material perspective. So now we have the real dilemma. To own a house, educate ourselves, educate our children, hold down a job, and lead a company, we need our ego. But the soul of humanity is not made happy by those achievements. Not deeply happy, because they are dual. For every achievement there is a downside. For every dollar of wealth there is a worry. For every new piece of knowledge, there is the conflict of the old knowledge. So the material life is filled with material achievements in which a person thinks, disillusioned, that once they get something, then they will be happy. But every something they get has duality, two sides. From a distance, a new relationship looks like paradise. But inside that new relationship there is also hell. Our delusional mind – the ego – thinks once we get something sorted out, we will be ok, but we are not. We are ok and we are not ok. Same as before, just in a new place. I remember climbing my first trek peak in Nepal. At the bottom I was unhappy, then I got to the top, was and I was happy, but now I was cold and tired. And soon the unhappiness that I experienced at the bottom took over again. So, standing there on top of the mountain, I was left with the idea that I had to create a new challenge for myself, so that I could run away from this unhappiness to another peak. In the spiritual perspective there is happiness everywhere. There is order in chaos, so even a bad situation is made to be good. This order turns both the unacceptable and the acceptable into beauty. Then there is simply love, because there is the ability to see both the bad side and the good side of everything. Then that love is not dependent on something happening, or people living up or down to your expectations; no matter what happens, love is there. There is no need to run away from situations, you can simply define them as healthy and unhealthy. Spiritually, love means deep happiness. Happiness comes from peace of mind. Peace of mind comes from an inner smile, a stillness. In turn stillness comes from contentment, and contentment comes when we do not want to change anything. So when all is perfect as it is, then there is contentment, stillness, an inner smile, peace of mind, and all this leads to happiness. Happiness for the materialist is defined as pleasure. Something makes us happy. But happiness to the spiritual person is not pleasure. Happiness is where the spiritual person comes from. They come from happiness, because they see beauty, they feel content, they do not want to change anything and therefore have peace of mind. Love can only flow from a mind that is at peace with itself. This does not mean the mind has stopped thinking; it has simply come to rest. It is working intensely, focused, but is not stressed, worried. So, it is absolutely possible to be both a materialist, and a spiritual person at once. The material perspective is the external, and the spiritual perspective is the internal one. Spiritual means, Where you come from. It does not affect where others come from, only your ability to see order in the chaos, understand other perspectives, and more importantly see where others come from. Spiritual perspective is achievable while leading the largest or smallest team in business, but most importantly, it is where your heart must sit in a sacred loving relationship. The real question in all of this is Where do you come from? If you are always thinking How do I get more money, how do I get more wealth, how can I pay my rent? then you will be in a very material lifestyle. No matter how much yoga or meditation you do, if you are asking how do I get more of anything, you are being material. Like how do I get more love? How do I get more income? How do I get more sex? How do I get more people to my Yoga class? How do I get more happiness for my friends? How do I get more peace on earth? These are the questions of the materialist mind. No matter what your idea about the value of what you are doing wanting more of anything, always leads to a form of unhappiness in you and those people you are trying to help. It means that if you are coming from a position of wanting to change anything at all, you are coming from fear. You fear what is, and want to change it. This means the material mind has taken over; even your spiritual practice has become a material practice. There can be no peace in that heart, because it is wanting, wanting, wanting. Wanting even to breathe better is wanting. And in that wanting there is a corruption to the spiritual side. If you come from the spiritual perspective you come from Loving Kindness. You do not want anything. You are coming from Loving Kindness and trusting that what you do will find its own truth. If you hurt someone, but you are coming from loving kindness, then that hurt is not your doing, it is the way your actions are received that caused hurt, not your intention. This is very important to understand. Sometimes you need to consider healthy and unhealthy people. They might be angry, bitter, and upset and you dont want to feed them energy by reacting to them. So by spiritual perspectives, you treat everyone with the same, loving-kindness. Then, you might draw a line in the sand and say, with loving-kindness, I do not want anything from you. If that person is hurt then it is not your doing, it is their receiving. And nature has a plan for them too. Where are you coming from? You can build a billion dollar empire, a sacred loving relationship and, with a spiritual perspective, also, find happiness. The key is the ability to know yourself, your energy and your ego, and understand the difference between these aspects and true love. In the extreme this is called healing, and in the everyday life, is called a spiritual perspective. Chris Walker is a world leading change agent, an environmentalist and author of more than 20 books. Life Is One Damn Diet After Another

By Virginia Bola, PsyD A common expression is that were going on a diet. The phrase suggests that, like a vacation trip, there is a beginning and an end. We dream of the day we will reach our weight goal and how wonderful it will be when we dont have to lead a life of painful deprivation. In the back of our minds, there is a comforting little tape playing, promising us that when our weight loss campaign is over, well be able to stop counting calories, carbohydrates, or fats. We long for the day when we no longer have to clench our teeth as we refuse a favorite dish that always causes us to salivate in our sleep. We reach for the carrot and celery sticks without anticipation or enthusiasm while torturing ourselves with visions of the special treats well enjoy when the diet is over. Uh, hello? Allowing ourselves to think of a diet as a delineated, restricted period within our total life span is a sure avenue back to tent city (that refers to what we wear, not where we live). To have any hope of attaining permanent weight control, we must approach it as a lifelong effort, watching our intake day after day, week after week, year after year. You feel your heart sinking in your chest. You think If I have to live like this all the time, its just not worth it! That little voice promises you that you are different. You can relax because now you know how to lose weight, you can do it anytime you want. Gain five pounds and youll go back on your diet and be back to goal in no time at all. But you wont! Think back over your chequered weight history. We all believe that once our weight is down, it will be so easy to go on a short diet if we gain back a few pounds. It doesnt work that way, though, does it? We start gaining a pound here and a pound there, but then there are some special events coming up and a diet would be so inconvenient. We dont go back on our diet until weve gained enough weight to develop the self-disgust that warrants a new period of serious deprivation. We have become a full-fledged member of the yo-yo club, that vast majority of dieters who cannot keep the weight off for more than a few weeks. The reasons we go on and off diets are numerous: they are boring, depressing, and very uncomfortable. They set us apart from friends, family, and coworkers who continue to snack, to feast, and to celebrate. We resent how diets make us feel and how they impact our daily lives. Lets look at the whole picture from a different perspective for a minute. Instead of a diet envision a way of eating that involves living on a diet for the rest of your life. While the prospect may appall you, dont say you cant do it just yet. First, consider another wide-spread concept many of us accept. To lose substantial weight in a relatively short time, we need to select the diet that seems to fit us and then stay with it, religiously, until weve reached our goal. Lets now take these two concepts, squish them together, and then turn them upside down. We are not going on a diet. We are starting our diet-for-life. We then pick a diet, any diet at all, and make the commitment to stick with that diet for one week, and one week only. At the end of the week, we are going to pick an entirely different diet to which again we only commit for a one week period. This continues for virtually the rest of our lives with selected diets changing on a weekly basis. What does this accomplish? A whole bunch of things: 1. By selecting a different diet each week, it removes those common misgivings that maybe we should have gone in a different direction. We worry that were not getting the right nutrients or that were going to get sick or develop a rare disease. We read the diet ratings and panic at the warnings posted for all the popular programs. With our new approach, you dont have to fret about if you made a good or bad choice because youll be making a new choice in a week. 2. If there are particularly painful No-Nos in this weeks diet, resolve to try something next week that allows a currently forbidden fruit. For example, a primarily protein regimen has been found successful for many participants who often lose five or ten pounds in a week. However, they miss the vegetables and salad they enjoy. The next week could then be a vegetables and salad only routine, also successful for rapid weight loss but a bit lean on the protein your body needs for self-repair. You may then find yourself craving some good bread so you switch to the Subway diet for a week until your craving is satisfied. Move on to something completely different the cabbage soup diet or liquid shakes. Since there are literally thousands of diets, a few are bound to include the food you crave. You are never more than a week away from having what you feel you absolutely must have in order to keep going. You can include spartan fad diets that move fat quickly and you can include calorie counting or Weight Watcher diets that allow almost anything so long as you adjust your intake to stay within the totals specified. 3. The frequent changes in your eating patterns keep your body off-balance. Give the body enough time and advance notice and it will adapt to anything, turning protein into carbohydrates and storing even low calorie carbohydrates as little pockets of fat. By totally changing what you eat on a regular basis, the body gives up trying to figure out how to thwart you and spends its time efficiently processing what you give it. You are effectively using your smart little mind to outmaneuver your smart not-so-little body. 4. The constant changes force you to buy food in smaller packages. Its pointless and wasteful to buy those family packs of anything. That will help you with overall portion reduction, a must for any serious dieter. Your shopping goal is only to purchase items that you can consume within a week. If you see something that you particularly want but is not on your allowed list, make a mental note to find a diet for next week that can accommodate it. 5. The need for a new diet each week requires that you read and research a lot of diets. The reading acts as reinforcement for your goals and will assure your continuing education on nutrition and fitness. When you see something that intrigues you or just makes a lot of sense, try it out. Perhaps one week will involve barely restricted eating but require a lot of exercise. Go for it its only a week. 6. You are in the happy position of having wide choices available but also the needed structure of an organized plan to follow. The regimented eating is within each weeks diet; the power of choice is operative when you decide what the next weeks program will be. 7. Can you stay on a diet permanently? Yes, you can, because youre not restricting yourself from anything for life, just for a week at a time. Should you stay on a diet for the rest of your life? Yes, you probably should as long as you are getting a balance of foods from an intelligent mixing of alternative diet plans. If you like one diet more than another, or if one particular program works exceptionally well for you, by all means cycle that diet into your routine on a regular basis. Just make sure you dont use the same plan more than once a month or your body is going to be ready for it and Zap! you find it no longer works so well. 8. Can you over-diet? We have all seen (although they seem to be harder to find these days) overly thin, cadaverous dieters with sunken cheeks and loose skin. That can be avoided by making your selected diets very diverse so you are never without needed nutrients for very long. For example, many retirement homes and assisted living co-ops produce thin seniors with pallid skin and protruding abdomens. Replace their mushy, high starch meals with any of the myriad high protein and vegetable-fruit diets and their color will improve, their energy increase, and their tummies fade. 9. Can you ever be too thin? Visit an eating disorder facility and you will see the results of anorexia nervosa, not a pretty sight and highly dangerous from a medical standpoint. If you have a history of overweight, you may tell yourself that being too thin will never be in the cards for you. However, there are not infrequent cases of the perennial heavy who becomes anorexic through dieting too much with resulting anxiety about gaining back even an ounce of the flesh so painfully discarded. If you have a distorted body image, and reliable friends are concerned about your being too thin, get professional help. 10. It all comes down to using your brain intelligently. When you are at your heaviest, with the most to lose, the logical choice is a rather spartan program that will get the fat moving quickly. As you lose, more moderate programs can be interspersed so that your skin and cheeks have a chance to adjust and fill in as your weight stores become redistributed. If a particular part of your body is resistant to reduction, exercise may become a more important part of your plan than simply a dietary approach. Once you are hovering at your ideal weight, simple calorie counting or support group involvement may be all you need. The secret is to be rational about it all and use that wonderful mind of yours to set the program for your not-so-intelligent body with its insatiable appetite and poundage conservation cravings. Dont try to cheat unless you want to cheat yourself and then be honest and admit that, for whatever reason there is, you want to avoid further weight loss. When you want and need to lose fifty pounds, an ice cream and chocolate diet is not rational. When you are at ideal weight or below, a stringent fad diet makes no sense. Will all this mixing of diets result in consistent weight loss? There is never consistency in weight loss because there are just too many factors involved: water retention, digestive inefficiencies, the amount of energy expended, and individual body quirks. Over time, you will lose steadily but there will always be some ups and downs along the way. Once the concept of going on a diet has been discarded, a lifelong eating plan can be embraced, guaranteed to leave you in control of your weight for the rest of your long slender life. Sunni, Shi’aWhat The Bleeps the Difference?

By Susan Scharfman Rugged as the Blue Ridge Mountains of the American East were those roughhewn giants that settled on opposite shores of the winding Tug Fork River. The Hatfields of West Virginia and the McCoys of Kentucky turned their backs on the genteel society of their Virginia homeland, and set out for the freedom of the untamed Appalachian wilderness. From the moment those two clans took root in those mountains, the Hatfields and the McCoys never stopped hating and slaughtering each other. Granted their visceral animosities are a remote microcosm of Islams war between Sunni and Shi`a sects. Yet, like the Protestants and Catholics of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Palestinians and Israelis, Sudans Muslim lighter-skinned Janjaweed slaughter of Sudans Muslim black-skinned peopleand sundry racial, religious and ethnic dogfightshumanitys rose is a rose is a rose. The legendary blood feud between generations of Hatfields and McCoys belongs to 19th century American history. Gunfights, murders and spit-in-your-eye lawlessness dominated their lives while a lethal American Civil War served to divide their families even further. Add the tragic love story of Roseanna McCoy and Johnse Hatfield and you have the kind of lusty eastern Western romanticized by 20th century Hollywood. But what is romantic about the brutality and violence those clans perpetrated for almost half a century? On a grander scale, is the slaughter of millions of Native Americans by white Anglo Saxon immigrants a romantic story? Is there a difference between the 1,400-year-old Islamic sectarian butchery of innocents, and the ethnic cleansing policies of President Andrew Jackson two centuries ago? Jacksonian Democracy with its greed and racially motivated hatred advocated total annihilation and/or relocation of Native American Indians. Only when the dirty deed was done, did the American government bury the hatchet. Sadly, maybe todays awful truth is that Islamic zealots, the extreme fundamentalists within Sunni and Shi`a sects, can only bury the hatchet in each other. Foreign military forces cannot decide the Sunnis and Shi`as place in modern society. Only they can. If they continue on their present path they will be left behind in the dust of 7th century ghosts, doomed to a Fourth World economy, doomed to fight on for all eternity like a scene from an old Star Trek movie. I doubt whether the Prophet Mohammed had that in mind for his followers. In the hopes that Allah will forgive me for this oversimplified primer, the religion of Islam started by the Prophet Mohammed has existed since the 7th century A.D. It has many sects and has undergone many transformationspolitical, theological and metaphysical. The two largest sects are Sunni and Shi`a. Steeped in spiritual realization are the Sufi mystics who exist in both the Sunni and Shi`a sects. Sunni is the largest clan or sect, estimated at about 85% of the Muslim population. For the record, Saudi Arabia is mostly Sunni. Pakistans Sunni outnumber Shi`a by 77% to 20%. Syria is mostly Sunni, Iran is Shi`a. Shi`a Islam also thrives in Bahrain, and to a lesser extent in the eastern provinces of Saudi Arabia as well as southern Lebanon, small sections of Syria and northern Yemen. The Shi`a minority is now in power in Iraq. Fragmentation and exodus has made todays Iraq demographics anybodys guess. Even if we wanted to, who could keep track of all this except those whose business it is to know the difference between Sunni and Shi`a? But do they? Wit and Wisdom on Money, Wall Street and Success – Part #5

By Harald Anderson The key to successful investing just like life itself it to have a thorough understanding of RISK and REWARD. The Amateurs think this means UP is Good and DOWN is BAD. People have very strange ideas about Success and Money. Focus your attention on Understanding RISK and it will all become clear. Here are a few more of my favorite quotes on Wisdom, Money and Risk. Enjoy! 1) Why not invest your assets in the companies you really like? As Mae West said, “Too much of a good thing can be wonderful” -Warren Buffett 2) Wall Street people learn nothing and forget everything. -Benjamin Graham 3) Most of the time common stocks are subject to irrational and excessive price fluctuations in both directions as the consequence of the ingrained tendency of most people to speculate or gamble… to give way to hope, fear and greed. -Benjamin Graham 4) Investment and speculation are said to be two different things, and the prudent man is advised to engage in one and avoid the other. This is something like explaining to to the troubled adolescent that Love and Passion are two different things. He perceives that they are different, but they dont seem quite different enough to clear up his problems. -Fred Schwed, Jr., Where are The Customers Yachts 5) If you dont know who you are the stock market is an expensive place to find out. -George Goodman 6) A loss never bothers me after I take it. I forget it overnight. But being wrong, not taking the loss, that is what does damage to the pocketbook and to the soul. -Jesse Livermore 7) The stock doesnt know you own it. -Adam Smith, The Money Game 8) “I’d give $1000 to be a millionaire.” – Lewis Timberlake 9) “No I’m in real trouble. First, my laundry called and said they lost my shirt and then my broker said the same thing.” -Leopold Fechtner 10) Money is a good servant but a bad master. -Sir Francis Bacon 11) “Failure is Success if we learn from it.” – Malcolm S. Forbes 12) “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” -Winston Churchill 13) “There are two questions you must answer to achieve wealth. What is the worst thing that ever happened to you in the markets? OK. Now what did you learn from it? You’ll find most people will talk endlessly about the first topic. Allow this mixture to synergize for a minimum of 2-3 hours. Shake and spray a very light mist across the radiation burn area. Allow the skin to dry thoroughly before covering. Repeat misting burn areas 3-4 times each day, or as needed for pain relief and to speed healing of skin cell tissue! Experiment with using a minimal amount of pure essential oil to begin with, slowly adding more oil until you reach the exact dilution amount that’s right for you! OPTIONAL: Add 2-7 drops of pure Helichrysum oil to your atomizer misting bottle to enhance the basic radiation burn treatment formula. Winning Your Weight Loss War For A Lifetime

By Beth Scott Are you fighting the uphill battle of weight loss? Stuck with not knowing who or what to listen to anymore? One person tells you one thing, the next tells you do the exact opposite. Who should you believe? There are so many weight loss diets and plans out there that it’s growing increasingly harder to decide what actually works and what isn’t even worth wasting your time on. You’ve gotta know that all of these “miracle” weight loss diets and plans are not what they claim to be, simply because if they all did exactly what they promised to, there wouldn’t be a single obese or overweight person left on earth! The reason so many useless weight loss diets and plans are still around is because most of the useless ones promise “INSTANT Weight Loss!” Now, tell me who is going to pass up at least trying something like that? Us humans can be mighty lazy at times and wanting everything to be instantaneous is one of our chief bad habits. We want our meals prepared instantly at restaurants, we demand web pages to load instantly or we’ll just close them, and we also desperately want instant weight loss. You suspect in the back of your mind of course, that this is impossible, but still you can’t help being sucked in by those oh so tempting promises of instant gratification. “Maybe this one will be different.” You tell yourself “It has to be.” But the honest, and yes painful, truth is that weight loss is never instantaneous. You can’t just pop some magic pill, go to sleep, and wake up 50 pounds slimmer. YOUR BODY DOESN’T WORK THAT WAY! Once your body has stored a certain amount of fat, it’s going to want to hold on to it (for dear life it sometimes seems). What you need to do is force your body to be more willing to burn up that fat, by revving up your metabolism. You also need to make sure you’re doing all the right things to accomplish this revving up. There are too many ways to rev your metabolism for me to go into them all here, but I’ll give you a short list of some TRULY KEY things you can do to rev your metabolism until it’s roaring along like the ocean surf. 1. Do NOT Skip Meals. Never, never, never skip a meal if you truly want to rev up your metabolism. If your body thinks you are starving it will actually slow your metabolism down (causing you to burn fat much slower) in an attempt to “keep you alive.” Maybe you don’t always have time for meals. Okay, I understand that. Just grab something easy, but nutritious and filling in place of a meal (nuts, fresh fruits & veggies can be quick fixes when you’re on the go). 2. Live A Spicier Life Eating spicy foods can dramatically speed up your metabolism. Try making a jalapeno salsa that you can use on sandwiches or salads. Chopped jalapenos also make a great addition to almost any meat, egg or vegetable dish. 3. Enjoy The Air And Your Favorite Game Breathing deeply while exercising is also very important for giving your metabolism that extra little “push” it needs. You should do some form of exercise every day, for at least 20 minutes that will cause you to breathe deeply, get your heart racing, and make you break a sweat. This doesn’t have to be painful, do something you already love. Play your favorite “game” or sport. Go biking, skating, swimming, etc. The possibilities are really endless. Exercise doesn’t need to be boring, what it needs to be is something you truly love doing and will be sure to find the time for at least 5 days out of every week. Something you’ll actually look forward to. Do yourself a favor, get your metabolism raring so that you can stop worrying about your weight and start enjoying life. Supercharge Your Metabolism

By Eric Hartwell People say Im so lucky, I eat whatever I want and I burn it right up. I must have a fast metabolism or My metabolism is so slow, if I eat that piece of cake Ill still be burning it off a year from now. What is metabolism? The Websters Dictionary defines metabolism as the chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life. We refer to this commonly as burning calories. Constructive metabolism synthesizes proteins, fats and carbohydrates to form tissue and store energy. Destructive metabolism breaks down complex substances, producing energy and waste. Your basal metabolism is the minimum metabolic rate and caloric expenditure to keep your body alive. 75 % of daily activity is fueled by basal metabolism. There are ways to boost your daily metabolic rate to expend more calories and increase weight loss. 1. Eat breakfast- Without breakfast, the body thinks it is starving, thereby protecting it by slowing down metabolism and encourages the body to operate on a low energy expending level. Eating complex carbohydrates in the morning fuels metabolism. Drinking 8 oz. of water with a lemon squeezed in it the first thing in the morning is a good way to trick the body into action. 2. Eat food earlier in the day- Eating too late slows down metabolism and by eating sufficient vitamins and nutrients for breakfast and lunch with a light dinner can aid in weight loss. 3. Always eat at least 1200 calories a day- Your metabolism will slow down if it is not getting enough nutrition or caloric intake. 4. Eat snacks- Fruits, vegetables and whole grains will spark your metabolism. Healthy snacking prevents you from feeling hungry, which will cut down on overeating at mealtime. 5. Eat less fat and more carbohydrates- Fat has a lot of calories which add to weight loss and carbohydrates initiate the burning of calories. 6. Have a productive exercise program- Jogging, swimming, walking, aerobics, step classes, cycling or rollerblading are all good examples of aerobic exercise. If you are active on a daily basis, more calories will be burned, your metabolism will boost and weight loss will occur. 7. Walk around- Walking in the morning or evening is a good stress reliever. Brisk walking boosts metabolism and fulfills some of your aerobic exercise needs. Our bodies need to be active for proper maintenance. 8. Weight training- Toned muscles and strong muscles boost metabolism, leading to more calories burned and weight loss. 9. Be as active as possible- Take the extra time to find reasons to move around. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Park your car farther from your office or when going to the store and walk an extra block or two. Use a broom or rake for cleaning up the yard instead of a leaf-blower. Find ways to do things a little less easy, making exercise a part of your daily routine. 10. Stay away from alcohol- Aside from the harmful health effects alcohol has on the mind and heart, it also depresses the bodys metabolism and has the unfortunate side effect of stimulating the desire for cheeseburgers and French fries. 11. Water, water, water- Drink a gallon of water a day. This is equal to 8 large glasses of water. The more water you drink, the more water you will want to drink. The bodys metabolism functions properly when supplied with plenty of water. 12. Avoid the quick-fix- There are no magic potions to ensure weight loss. Stay away from pills, potions and powders that portend to be miracle weight loss enhancers. How To Find A Good Recruiter

By JoAnn Hines Finding a recruiter that best matches your personality, professional needs, and profile can be difficult under the best of circumstances. The best time to find one is while you are employed. Locating one at this time allows you to be more particular. Building a relationship with your recruiter will take time and effort so its important to find the right person from the beginning. You might need to contact several recruiters before you find a good match. It is important to be discreet at this point. You don’t want the word to get out that you are “looking” or to be contacted by recruiters on the prowl for new clients. It’s never too early to cultivate a recruiter relationship. Keep in mind that this process can be challenging when you are a new professional, and do not have a career track record. The younger/less experienced you are, the harder it will be to have a recruiter work for you. Note: Recruiters, with the exception of “retained” search professionals, make a percentage of the offered salary. The higher the salary, the more money they make. Consequently, it pays them to place the “High Ticket” people first. Here are six tips to get you started: 1) Find a recruiter BEFORE you need one. Your initial contact should serve to the recruiter get to know you and you know them. Make sure that you both understand that this is a preliminary meeting so you won’t be bombarded with unwanted calls or jobs until you are actually seeking a position. If the ideal position comes along, make it clear that that it would be appropriate to contact you, but that you will notify them when you are actually looking to make a change. If the recruiter calls you constantly with “positions” that are not suitable, you need to move on. In your consultation with your recruiter you should share your talents, career plans and goals. Cover conditions such as being unable to relocate. TIP: Don’t conduct these discussions at your present place of employment. Find a time and place where you can concentrate and give the recruiter your undivided attention. Never look for a new job on your employer’s time. TIP: Some companies have “alert” notices installed in the computer network. If you access job board or job related sites they will know it. 2) Find a recruiter that specializes in your field or industry. Today, recruiters are very specialized. You want one that knows your business, preferably one that has some longevity in the field. If you are active in your industry eventually you will either meet a recruiter or one will contact you. Be sure and do your homework. Check out your recruiter’s credentials. Ask colleagues if they have heard of this person (careful and discreet. You don’t want the word to get out that you are looking). When you check out your recruiter’s references, ask how long it took to be placed and what the recruiter relationship was like. Ask the recruiter to provide you with articles and information they have written or prepared. Check out the recruiter’s website. Ask for references of people they have placed. Note: Be wary of recruiters just starting. As a temporary measure, many unemployed people hang up a recruiter shingle when they themselves become unemployed. TIP: Here are a couple of websites to get you started www.findarecruiter.com or www.findrecruiter.com. 3) As you uncover potential “matches” send out a cover letter of introduction. Keep your cover letter simple and to the point. Your cover letter should make the recruiter want to know more about you. Explain why they should invest time in getting to know you better. Ask to set up a telephone appointment. It’s up to you to sell the recruiter your skill set. You might include facts in your letter that are specific to your situation and may not be included in your resume. 4) Find a recruiter that you feel comfortable with and you trust. I can’t emphasize this enough. Your recruiter must be able to work in absolute confidentiality. You MUST like working with and feel comfortable with your recruiter. If there is a “personality” conflict, move on to someone else. You are establishing a bond with your recruiter and you want them to work for you, not just submit your resume to any job opening. Be careful about sending your resume out to recruiters while you are still employed. Your goal is to build a relationship. Be cautious. Many recruiters work on a numbers theory. If they send out so many candidate resumes eventually one will be qualified. Most recruiters are true professionals with very high ethics. They will gladly keep you in mind for new positions that are “right up your alley” as they are uncovered. Make sure you cover your resume in depth with your recruiter. They may opt to have you rewrite it with a professional service. You may need several different versions of your resume. TIP: Under no circumstances should a recruiter “enhance” your qualifications to fit an opening or a position they are trying to fill. 5) Cover current salary information and expectations. Make sure you set clear and concise parameters. You don’t want to waste time going on interviews that are not in line with your expectations. Remember to discuss that you expect your new job to pay more than your old one. It’s perfectly acceptable to have your recruiter seek out a better job or a promotion rather than a lateral move. 6) Find out what is the most acceptable way for the recruiter to receive your resume. They are working for you so you need to provide them your essential details in the shortest and easiest possible method. The more complicated you make it for them to receive your information the less enthusiastic they will be to read your material. TIP: This is especially true to day were it’s a recruiters market. There are many more qualified candidates than there are recruiters to place them. TIP: Remember to follow up once you have sent your credentials. Investigate if the transmission was clear, are there any questions, etc. Some Cautions About Using Recruiter: 1) Recruiters will not help you change your career. They operate in the world that is familiar to them. 2) Recruiters will not accept you as a client if you are not in their area of specialization. Its nothing personal. 3) Recruiters may not tell you it’s not a fit. Some just won’t ever call. If that’s the case, find another recruiter. 4) Executive recruiters recruit! Time is money. They are not there to entertain or listen to your life story. Don’t abuse the relationship by monopolize a recruiters time. 5) Recruiters are NOT your new best fiend. They will make money by placing you. Keep this in mind as you build your relationship. A solid relationship with a good recruiter can be a boon to your career. It used to be considered a negative career factor if you changed jobs too frequently. Now, its the opposite. If you haven’t changed jobs people want to know why. (They think you are unmotivated.) Your recruiter can be one of your career barometers letting you know when the market is ripe for a career change and when its not. TIP: A good rule of thumb is to stay three years in the same position. After that, its time for a promotion or a new assignment. Your recruiter should be on top of industry trends too. Caution: Don’t just make a move because three years is up. Manage your career move as part of a solid personal business plan. When the market is soft, as it is right now, consider long and hard any potential career changes. Not just the short term/immediate gain but evaluate how this move will position you for future career growth. No matter how good the fit, time is money. The recruiter will always push those people that are marketable and profitable. Keep your skill set current and your name in the limelight. This will make you more valuable and worth the recruiter’s time. Discover the easy way to make yourself stand out from others. Billing Woes For Telcos

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Arun_Tibrewal]Arun Tibrewal The rapid rise in the telecom industry over the last few years has been an event cheered by many. Today, Indian market is the second largest growing market in the world. And considering the vastly increasing population coupled with increasing economic prosperity, the telecom companies have nothing to fret about. Yet, there are certain chains that are shackling the growth in the telecom. While many companies have paid due emphasis to coverage technology, installing expensive equipment all across for better coverage, they are yet to pay proper attention to their back-end, mostly importantly the billing systems. Quite many telecom companies still have in place archaic billing systems, these software applications were bought off-the-shelf and are complex beyond imagination. Not are they slow on processing or what is better known as ‘turn around’ time, but are also not scalable to the ever-changing needs of the company. Hence, there are still a lot of services (related to billing) that many operators are unable to provide. In such a scenario, Swastik Infotech Pte Ltd. has launched one of the most revolutionary telecom billing system in the marketplace. Christened as e-Biller, this system promises to put an end to all the discrepancies that arise out of the traditional billing systems. The biggest breakthrough of e-Biller over other such systems is the ease that it offers to the companies to plug in new services without any hassles. This innovative billing system has been designed keeping in mind the present needs and the future requirements of the telecom companies. It is scalable and can be easily configured to suit the changing requirements. It is also easily compatible with latest technologies like ASP.Net (Active server pages) and works efficiently in Dot Net platform. e-Biller is a robust system that has been rigorously tested for any sort of inconsistencies. It also comes from the stables of Swastik Infotech, a company having an enviable track record in the marketplace.
